Summary
The precepts are the rules of Buddhist life, summarised as the sixteen bodhisattva precepts; receiving them became the entrance to Buddhist life. In these texts they are guidelines or advice rather than instructions, changeable and yet unchanging, and the only way to keep them is to practise zazen.
