About talk transcripts and translations
About these transcripts
The transcripts of the talks are made from recordings or, for older talks, from source PDF transcripts. The text from a recording is first produced with the help of automatic speech recognition, and then I check it: I compare it with the recording and take care over names and technical terms. The Slovak translation is made from the English transcript. I prepare them with care.
The transcripts and translations are prepared to the best of my knowledge. Because of audio quality and other circumstances they may contain inaccuracies. Typical causes are noise, echo, a distant microphone, audience questions that are hard to hear, speakers talking over each other, and Sanskrit or Japanese terms. A translation can add a shift in meaning on top of that.
Where the source recording (audio or video on the talk page) or the source PDF transcript is available, I encourage you to listen to it and compare it with the text. Where they disagree, the recording is right.
If you find a mistake, please tell me through the contacts page.
