Summary
Jijuyo zanmai is the samadhi of receiving and using the self, in which, says Master Dogen, we are already seated stably and thankfully in zazen: ji means self, ju receiving and yo giving or using. For Master Dogen it describes a self in balance between the passive, receiving, and the active, using, which Nishijima relates to the balance of the autonomic nervous system.
