Summary
When we study Buddhism with a teacher, we find out whether what the teacher teaches is true: when we recognise truth in somebody's teaching because we notice it in ourselves, we make it our own, so it belongs to us and not to somebody else. Copying or parroting the teacher misses the point; it has to be our own, with its own energy.
